Helena Maio holds a degree (1991) in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, has completed several Executive Training Courses and a Programme from HBX/Harvard Business School on Disruptive Strategy with Professor Clayton Christensen (2016). She is Advisor to the Board of Directors at Portugal Ventures and Director of the New Business unit. Investment Director, Investment Manager and Advisory to the Board of Directors of Portugal Ventures/InovCapital (2002-2005, 2008-2018). She was member of the Board of Directors of Principle Power, Inc.(between 2014 and 2019). She was Director of Investments, Investment Manager and Advisor to the Board of Directors at Portugal Ventures/InovCapital (2002-2005, 2008-2018), member of the Board of Directors of several companies from VC Portfolio of Portugal Ventures, InovCapital and PME Capital, member of the Board of Credit Agricola’s Deposit Guarantee Fund, Executive Member of the Board of Directors and CFO of ADI – Portuguese Public Innovation Agency (2005-2008), Head of Corporate Finance at a Portuguese Investment Bank (1994-1998; 1999-2001), Deputy to the Secretary of State for Budget (Finance Ministry) (1998-1999), member of the Audit Committee of INGA (FEOGA’s Payer in Portugal) (1998-2003), Economist in the Porto Stock Exchange and Coordinator of the Operations and Markets Department (1991-1994). She also has academic experience as a lecturer at the Superior Banking Institute in the subjects of Financial Markets and Banking Management.
