Alexandre Almeida holds a Master degree in Economics and a PhD in Economics. He is a Professor on innovation at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto and at the Polytechnic Institute of Cavado and Ave. Alexandre has a wide array of experience on STI policies from conception to management, as well as in the Health Sector. He has worked as a head advisor for the Managing Authority of the Norte Operational Program in charge of Science and Technology incentives management and policy design. Since 2016, Alexandre has coordinated of the National Smart Specialization Strategy, the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs, leading the IPCEIs on Microelectronics and on Health) and has been in charge of several evaluation processes regarding the National Innovation System. Since 2015, he has accumulated functions as an advisor for the General Manager of Central Hospitals (Gaia – CHVNGE and Guimaraes – HSOG).
