José Fortunato has a degree in Economics from the University of Porto (1991), having completed an MBA program at INSEAD Fontainebleau (1994). Before joining Sonae in 1999, he held positions on the Board of Directors of CISF Banco de Investimentos, SA, as well as of Banco Espírito Santo, SA. Throughout his career at Sonae, he participated in several projects: Universo Card, Continente Customer Card, Starfish, Retail 2020, Continente Online, Financial Services, Store Operations, Cost Killing, Customer Behavior, Digital, Retail and Environmental Sustainability. José Fortunato's main hobbies are Sports (in particular football), Travel, Cinema, Gastronomy and Oenology.
