Abstract
A growing number of experts and technology users have been claiming that blockchain has the potential to drive financial inclusion. But blockchain technology is not just about financial aspects. The development of a cryptoeconomy could diversify the supply of goods and services through the decentralization of production and distribution channels, with positive effects on economic activity and nations’ wealth, improving living conditions for families. However, low financial literacy and legal, tax, and accounting uncertainties related to investment and entrepreneurship in the areas of blockchain and cryptoassets may become obstacles to the development and massification of this economy. To approach the challenges that cryptoeconomy face in Portugal, we invited the President of the Portuguese Association of Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, Dr. Nuno Lima da Luz.
